Earmark Reform

    Congressman Flake is an outspoken critic of the congressional practice of earmarking. Earmarks are line-item spending projects that are usually slipped into major appropriations bill with little or no oversight or accountability.

    He has offered several bills and amendments to curb earmarks, including a bill that would require that earmarks be included in legislative text rather than conference or committee reports. This would give Members of Congress who are serious about reducing wasteful spending an opportunity to root out pork projects.
